The 42 story RSA tower is the tallest building in the State of Alabama and is the showcase property for the Retirement Services of Alabama (RSA). The tower is connected to the historic Battlehouse Hotel in Mobile Alabama. The hotel features elegant social spaces and soaring rotundas from a bygone era are to be gloriously restored and integrated into a new multifunction hotel and office building complex being herald as the tallest structure in Alabama. The 280,000 square foot hotel will have an estimated project cost of $135 million and will be built to Renaissance standards.
The tower includes over half a million square feet of office and retail space and an adjacent 8 story parking deck. HESM&A is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design for this project. Mechanically, the hotel will utilize a portion of the anticipated 2,700 ton RSA tower chilled water plant to cool the spaces; electrical distribution at 4,160 volts and service will be provided from one of the four sub-stations located throughout the project.
